P.D. James was a British hospital administrator who turned to writing crime fiction to support her family and her war-traumatized husband. We will explore her 2001 novel, Death in Holy Orders, featuring detective Adam Dalgliesh. In the story, he is investigating a series of murders at St. Anselms, a theological college on the coast of East Anglia. Likely, we will also explore such themes as “good and evil” and the “nature of justice.” Michael Pahl, lead pastor at Morden Mennonite Church, will serve as our discussion leader.
