How Much Is a Cookie Worth?

Just how much is one super-sized cookie worth?  Perhaps five dollars, or maybe ten?

One giant cookie recently brought in one thousand dollars at the annual cookie sale and auction, presented by the children and youth of Covenant. vWith the support of the Mission Committee, the Sunday School students once again raised money for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) relief and development projects in various countries. Cookies were baked ahead of time and sold by donation, with the giant cookie bringing in the big dollars in a rousing auction.

Each year at Covenant, the arrival of Advent kicks off a special “Giving Project”, to which church attenders are invited to make a donation in addition to regular offerings.  The congregation is a strong supporter of MCC, so this creates a natural fit for the Giving Project. For several years, including 2019, the students have chosen projects within MCC’s work to receive the Giving Project funds. These include efforts to support food and water security, peace making initiatives and economic development. 

The cookie sale, as well as further donations throughout Advent, raised a total of $4223.00, and a cheque in this amount has been forwarded to MCC. Much gratitude is extended to the Covenant congregation for such generosity!
